How is a Gama Comprehensive Longevity Assessment different from a conventional physical examination?
Conventional annual physicals are used primarily to detect and treat existing disease. Gama Comprehensive Longevity Assessments are done to try to prevent disease from occurring in the first place. Through a very thorough history, physical examination, and laboratory testing including markers of aging, we try to predict disease years before it occurs. Customized prevention protocols are then formulated and put in place. Through ongoing monitoring and medical supervision, we no longer have to be a prisoner of our genetic destiny. After the comprehensive anti-aging assessment is complete, the doctor will work with you to develop a health plan based on your individual needs. The extensive laboratory testing we perform allows you to understand your own markers of aging and provides us the opportunity to develop a customized anti-aging protocol for disease prevention. |
Is this type of program covered by OHIP?
Like many types of beneficial health care (including eye exams, physiotherapy, weight loss and dietetic counseling), OHIP does not consider this type of preventative and alternative medicine “medically necessary” and unfortunately it is not covered. Medically necessary services are still covered by OHIP on Dr. Welchner’s regular shifts at the clinic. |

Call Andrea at (905) 503-8000 or email at info@DrWelchner.com to set up an appointment. A registration package can be mailed, emailed, faxed or picked up prior to your appointment. At your first appointment, a complete history and physical will be done and tests will be ordered. There is no need to fast for your first appointment. After we receive the results of your tests, we will call you back for a follow-up visit at which time your current health status will be reviewed, goals will be discussed, and health and longevity protocols will be presented. The Bioidentical Hormone Program is included in the Longevity Program. Follow-up appointments will be booked approximately every 3 months over the year. |
